The Trade Fair Operating Regulations define the general rules of conduct that exhibitors must observe when participating in trade fairs and using the halls, premises and the entire trade fair grounds. Exhibitors are obliged to inform their employees and authorized third parties of the contents of these Trade Fair Operating Regulations and to ensure compliance with them.
The exhibitor is responsible for booth design. Sketches, plans or models must be submitted to the Trade Fair Management on request.
Booth structures must be designed so that they do not require any fastenings to the hall walls, hall floor, pillars in the hall, or the hall ceiling. It is forbidden to drill or pierce holes in hall floors and walls, etc.
When designing the booths, attention is to be paid to accessibility. Booths and their facilities should also be accessible and usable for people with limited mobility without assistance.
Outdoor booth structures must be dimensioned for the corresponding wind and snow loads and must be sufficiently weighted or secured. The respective exhibitor shall be liable for any damage to property and/or personal injury caused by inadequate securing measures.
Exhibitors may use the space allocated to them in accordance with the location and hall plans.
– The Trade Fair Management shall not be liable to the exhibitor with regard to any consequences arising from the location or surroundings of the exhibitor's booth or from the neighbors' booth concepts (sound emissions).
– No exhibits, advertising materials or other equipment may protrude beyond the booth perimeter.
– The booth boundary line corresponds to the maximum usable area. Extension beyond this line is not permitted.
– Any fronts declared as open may only be installed with the written permission of the Trade Fair Management.
Any fronts declared as open may only be installed with the written permission of the Trade Fair Management.
– Poorly designed, dirty or untidy booths may be cleared away or closed by the Trade Fair Management if they are not adapted to the general standard of the trade fair in response to the first request to do so. The exhibitor concerned is not entitled to any compensation.
All booths must be equipped with rear and side walls. The standard height is 2.5 meters.
– The rear walls (higher than 2.5 meters) facing neighboring booths must be decorated in neutral white. If the Trade Fair Management deems this not to be the case, it may commission the booth construction at the exhibitor's expense.
The standard height of booth equipment in the permanent halls must not exceed a maximum of 3 meters from the hall floor (if possible). In response to a written request, the Trade Fair Management may approve booth structures up to a maximum height of 5 meters (if possible) subject to a fee (see point 1.6).
The height of booth equipment in marquees must not exceed a maximum of 2.5 meters from the hall floor. In response to a written request, the Trade Fair Management may approve booth structures up to a maximum height of 3 meters.
Rear walls (higher than 2.5 meters) facing neighboring booths must be decorated in neutral white.
There is no entitlement to compensation for location-related restrictions.
For structures that exceed the regulatory standard height of 3 meters from the hall floor (or 2.5 meters in the tent halls), the Trade Fair Management may grant exceptions upon written application by the exhibitor. For structures such as signage elements, flags or decorations affixed above the standard height of 3 meters, a flat-rate amount of CHF 500.00 per booth shall be charged.
Please note the following:
– Exceptions will only be granted up to a maximum height of 5 meters (where possible).
– The permitted "graphic edge" (upper edge of signage elements such as company signs, logos, texts) is 4.5 meters.
– Rear walls (higher than 2.5 meters) facing neighboring booths must be decorated in neutral white.
– Items of technical equipment used for suspension or lighting are not deemed to be part of the booth structures. Compliance with the provisions regarding "Suspension points" is required for equipment of this sort (see point 1.7).
– However, if the suspension is covered with textiles, this is considered part of the booth construction. In this case, the maximum construction height of 5 meters must not be exceeded.
– However, if the suspension is covered with textiles, this is considered part of the booth construction. In this case, the maximum construction height of 5 meters must not be exceeded. Costs are charged for walk-on areas on upper floors. The price per square meter for the upper floor areas is calculated on the basis of 50 percent of the applicable price per square meter without frontage surcharge.
Suspension points are fixtures fastened to the hall structure for the purpose of hanging various items. The exhibitor is not permitted to fasten parts of the booth structure, auxiliary equipment such as lights and lamps, or decorations directly to the structure of the hall. In case of incorrect execution, the Trade Fair Management is authorized to require the exhibitor to implement corrections.
– All suspensions directly connected to the hall ceiling are subject to a charge and must be ordered from the Trade Fair Management.
– For safety reasons and to ensure that the total load of the suspensions does not exceed the load-bearing capacity of the hall structure, only the suspension points provided may be used.
– The installation will be carried out by an authorized company on behalf of Messe Luzern.
– Messe Luzern accepts no liability for injury to persons or damage to equipment caused by improper installation at the suspension points provided.
The exhibitor is responsible for ensuring booth safety, including equipment, and shall take all necessary measures to prevent damage to property and personal injury during the exhibition, including setup and dismantling. It shall assume liability for all events in connection with the construction and operation of its trade fair booth.
Please note in particular:
– No unsecured loads may be raised above the heads of people.

– Components that, under the applicable guidelines or in the opinion of the management of Messe Luzern, have not been installed and/or secured in an expert and professional manner must be adjusted or removed at the request of Messe Luzern.
Before the start of the trade fair, Messe Luzern will conduct a tour of the halls to draw the attention of booth constructors/exhibitors to any safety deficits. The following points will be assessed:
– Fastenings
– Fire protection
– Operational safety
If there is potential for damage with regard to these criteria, recommendations are made on any necessary measures and the next steps to be taken.
Messe Luzern is authorized to take necessary measures if they are not carried out on time,
– to arrange these at the exhibitor's expense,
– or, if necessary, to remove the booth structures.
Messe Luzern accepts no liability for any damage and/or its consequences.
Materials rented or made available by Messe Luzern shall remain the property of Messe Luzern and must be handled with care.
– The exhibitor undertakes to return such materials in their undamaged original condition. Costs of rectifying any damage shall be borne by the exhibitor.
– For orders placed at short notice and/or changes to rented booth construction materials and furniture, an express surcharge will be levied from 30 days before the trade fair is held.
Floor coverings (carpets etc.) may only be laid on the area rented by the exhibitor. They may only be used beyond the aisles with the written consent of the Trade Fair Management.
If the booth area is provided with a floor covering, the following must be observed:

For wastewater connections that cannot be connected directly to the pipe network for the halls, the exhibitor must provide a space measuring 0.5 × 0.5 m for a wastewater pump.
Completely closed trade fair booths are not permitted because of smoke detection via the fire alarm system. Exceptions to the above provisions must be discussed with the Trade Fair Management.
The halls are equipped with general hall lighting. If the booth is to have individual lighting, this is the responsibility of the exhibitor.
Working platforms rented out by Messe Luzern may only be operated with the appropriate ID. The ID must be presented when renting.
Exhibiting and advertising with live animals requires written authorization from the Trade Fair Management.
Permission will be granted if the Trade Fair Management has received confirmation from the cantonal veterinarian that the necessary epidemiological measures and vaccinations have been carried out and that the animals are being kept in a manner appropriate to their species in accordance with animal welfare legislation.
The exhibitor undertakes to strictly comply with the instructions of the cantonal veterinarian and guarantees the veterinary service and the necessary maintenance of the animals before and during the trade fair. In particular, care must be taken to ensure that neighboring booths are not disturbed by soiling, odor or noise emissions and that the proper disposal of excrement is ensured.
Compliance with the specified deadlines for setting up booths is mandatory. Work beyond the official setup deadlines is possible under special circumstances, but this must be clarified and agreed in writing with the Trade Fair Management. Any resultant additional costs incurred for the security and hall service shall be billed to the exhibitor.
– Independent modifications to the installations of Messe Luzern are prohibited.
– All connections must be freely accessible at all times (even during trade fair operations). Exhibitors cannot claim any compensation for this.
– The exhibitor shall be liable for faults and damage arising from a failure to comply with this provision.
– Electricity connections and water supply to and drainage from the booth may only be carried out by Messe Luzern.
– All orders must be submitted by the specified deadlines. An express surcharge will be levied for orders or changes to orders placed 30 days or less before the trade fair is held.

Compressed air must be obtained exclusively through Messe Luzern.
– A central compressed air network is available in halls 1 and 2.
– Mobile compressors are operated in halls 3 and 4.
– The installation of compressed air lines from the hall pipe network to the exhibitor's booth, and the procurement and commissioning of mobile compressors, may only be undertaken by Messe Luzern.
– The Trade Fair Management reserves the right (e.g. in case of low demand for compressed air) to install the compressor for the compressed air supply in the booth or in its immediate vicinity, which may result in noise emissions.
The Trade Fair Management monitors the trade fair grounds (i.e., the halls and outdoor areas used for the trade fair) and ensures that the halls are locked. Booth security and supervision – especially for valuables – is generally the responsibility of the exhibitor, including during the setup and dismantling periods.

– The exhibitor is responsible for supervising the booth during opening hours as well as during setup and dismantling times.
– The exhibitor must take all reasonable measures to protect its property and other items in its care (e.g., third-party property) located on the trade fair grounds from damage and loss (e.g., theft).
– At night, valuable, easily removable objects must be locked up by the exhibitor.
The trade fair can monitor the trade fair grounds using technical aids such as video systems or a drone. Messe Luzern will provide information on the use of the technology employed.
The Trade Fair Management is not liable for loss and/or damage to booths and exhibits. The exclusion of liability is not limited by any insurance policies taken out by the Trade Fair Management (see point 10).
General cleaning of the trade fair grounds, aisles, stairs, etc. is organized by the Trade Fair Management.
